IN 1898

April 28, 1998

On April 28, 1898, the Lawrence Journal noted that KU's Board of Regents had approved the location of the new electrical engineering building, known as the Fowler Shops. Walter Root was the architect and had designed a building, a two-story stone structure with an attic and a tower. Mr. Fowler was donating the money to build it on the condition that $20,000 be furnished by KU to equip the building.
