Lecompton — People with low to moderate incomes will have the opportunity to apply for grants to fix up their homes next week.
The Lecompton City Council has set up an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the community building, 333 Elmore, for those seeking Community Development Block Grant funds, said Susie Hackathorn, city clerk.
Hackathorn said the funds will be for families with low to moderate incomes.
At its meeting earlier this week, the council also designated the week of June 7 -13 as citywide clean up week. Hackathorn said all trash will be picked up on June 13.
The council also set up a veterinary clinic for dogs and cats from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. May 2 at the community building. Jefferson County Veterinary Clinic in Perry will provide the service for a fee.
The council also decided to buy a ``uni-loader,'' a small bulldozer, for $15,969 on a lease-purchase agreement for four years from Victor L. Phillips, Lawrence.
