Lawrence police are searching for three suspects for questioning in the reported rape and fondling of two women, ages 17 and 18, at a party over the weekend.

The two females told police they were fondled and raped at a party, but one of the victims is asking that police don't pursue charges against the suspects.

The alleged victims, a 17-year-old Ellinwood girl and an 18-year-old Topeka woman, called police from the Miller Mart, 3300 W. Sixth, about 1:20 a.m. Sunday. They told police they were at a party at the Sunrise Village Apartments, 660 Gateway Ct., earlier that morning.

``During the course of the party, several individuals touched, fondled and had sexual contact with them,'' Sgt. George Wheeler said.

The Topeka woman, however, told police she didn't want to pursue a case against the suspects, all of Lawrence.

Police want to question the three suspects but have been unable to locate them. Wheeler said their addresses aren't known, but police have visited the apartment where the party took place.

Kansas law requires police to pursue an investigation into sexual misconduct against minors, and police are seeking information about the 17-year-old's allegations. Anyone who is 18 years or older can decide not to participate in the investigation, Wheeler said.

The Ellinwood girl was visiting an acquaintance at the apartment complex, and has identified the three suspects.
