Lawrence school district's Asst. Supt. Randy Weseman has been selected for the Fulbright Superintendent Program in Germany.
Weseman will head to Germany in May to participate in a school superintendent exchange program. Along the way he'll make stops in Bonn, Munich, Weimer, Berlin and Dusseldorf.
The focus of the program is to increase awareness of German society and culture among U.S. educational officials, and to nurture international professional partnerships and dialogue between U.S. school districts and officials in German states.
Weseman also chairs the Sister Cities Advisory Board, appointed by the Lawrence City Commission. Sister cities involved in that program are Eutin, Germany, and Hiratsuka, Japan.
``Serving in the dual role, as an administrator and chair of the local organization, I feel I'm in an ideal position to foster development of both the public school program and the community-wide effort,'' Weseman said.
