Robert I. Gabaldon
Holton -- Funeral services for Robert I. Gabaldon, 76, Amarillo, Tex., were held Sept. 5, 1997, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel in Amarillo, Tex. Burial was on Sept. 6, 1997, at Holton Cemetery.
Mr. Gabaldon died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997.
He was born in Wichita on May 19, 1921, the son of Adolph Gabaldon and Nina Carlisle.
He had lived in Amarillo for 10 years. He worked as a dental technician for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He also worked for the Indian Health Service and Highway Safety Department in Albuquerque, N.M.
He was a member of the Cheyenne-Arapaho tribe, where he was an elder council member and a business consultant. He was a member of the Elks for more than 40 years.
He graduated from Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence. He was an Episcopalian.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served as a medical corpsman in World War II. He was a member of the merchant marines and lifetime member of the VFW.
He married Rose-Marie Cuellar-Gabaldon. She survives in Phoenix.
Other survivors include a son, Robert, Lawrence; a daughter, Nina Gabaldon Desbien, Durango, Colo.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
