Funeral services for Donald L. Wallace, 78, Burlington, Iowa, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Wallace died Friday, Sept. 26, 1997, at the Elm View Care Center in Burlington, Iowa.
He was born May 23, 1919, in Clarinda, Iowa, the son of Roy E. and Sylvia O. Haffner Wallace. A former Lawrence resident, Mr. Wallace was a self-employed contractor for many years.
He was a member of the West Hill United Methodist Church, Burlington, Iowa.
He married Leona W. Hodges on April 14, 1951, in Corpus Christi, Tex. She died March 9, 1988. He married Vola Black on Oct. 17, 1988, in Burlington, Iowa. She died June 28, 1996.
Survivors include three stepdaughters, Dana Ballinger, Washington, Ill., Cheryl Black, Corvallis, Ore., and Georgia Black, Madison, Wis.; two stepsons, Dwayne Peaslee, Perry, and Stan Black, Burlington, Iowa; two brothers, Ronald, Joshua, Tex., and Paul, Lakewood, Colo.; a sister, Charlotta Coggins, Vidor, Tex.; and nine stepgrandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
