— Services for John Alexander, 60, Tonganoxie, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lawrence. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.

Mr. Alexander died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997, at his home.

He was born Oct. 7, 1936, in Iola, the son of Alvin and Mary Copening Alexander.

He moved to Tonganoxie in 1972 from Lawrence. He retired from Southwestern Bell, Kansas City, Kan., in 1989, where he was a switchman.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lawrence, and Kansas Trap Shooters Assn., where he was the former president and a current director.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Heimsoth Alexander in 1983.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Reed, Valencia, Calif., and Janet Alexander, Tonganoxie; a sister, Billie Jane Clabaugh, McLouth, and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie.
