How much of tuition for non-resident students in Lawrence public schools is subsidized by local tax dollars? What type of tuition do the students pay?
"A Lawrence school board policy provides admission of nonresident students on a space-available basis," said Randy Weseman, assistant superintendent. "Nonresident students are not accepted after the state accounting date in September. The total student enrollment on that date determines state funding for the district. The difference between the state per-student allocation and the actual cost per student is approximately $800. Nonresident students pay the same school fees as resident students, but do not pay tuition."
