— Services for Howard C. "Clinton" Lee, 80, Ottawa, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Lamb-Roberts-Heise Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.

Mr. Lee died Monday, Sept. 8, 1997, at Baldwin Care Center.

He was born June 4, 1917, at Mount Sterling, Iowa, the son of Roy E. and Bertha H. Lee. He was educated at public schools in Albia, Iowa, and received further education at Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill., and also at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.

Mr. Lee was enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corps and worked briefly for the JC Penney Company. From 1939 until his retirement in 1973, he was employed by the United States Post Office Department and its successor agency, the U.S. Postal Service. He spent most of his working life as a clerk for the Railway Postal Service of the U.S. Post Office Department and transferred to the Lawrence Post Office in 1966, where he worked until retirement.

He was a member of the Ottawa Bible Church.

Mr. Lee married Marian Louise Woods on July 9, 1939, at Terre Haute, Ind. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include five sons, David A., William E., Timothy H., all of Ottawa, John P., Hutchinson, and Richard A., Denver; two daughters, Deborah Barkley, Ottawa, and Rhoda A. Barker, Napa, Calif.; a brother, Col. Thomas D. Lee, Denver; four sisters, Evelyn Tucker, Mountain Home, Ark., Virginia Radke, Grand Junction, Iowa, Ruth Putsche, Seattle, Grace Lee, Pueblo, Colo.; and 21 grandchildren.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The family suggests memorials to the Ottawa Bible Church, which may be sent in care of the funeral home.
