A Lawrence man who allegedly held his 68-year-old mother captive for more than 24 hours was arrested Thursday morning on a warrant for kidnapping.
Bryan Douglas Cox, 37, who is listed as a transient on a Douglas County Jail report, is being held in the jail on $75,000 bond. According to police reports, Cox is accused of holding his mother against her will in her house in the 2500 block of Ponderosa on Sept. 28.
The woman was locked in the house and her telephone was unplugged. Cox allegedly threatened to shoot her if she tried to leave. He left the next day, denying that he had threatened her.
