Woodward innocent: Lynette Woodard pleaded not guilty to snatching the replica jerseys high on the south wall of Allen Fieldhouse.
"I was in New York the time of the crime," Woodard said with a laugh. "I'm innocent."
Woodard's No. 31 was one of two retired KU jerseys taken sometime on Monday. The other jersey missing was Danny Manning's No. 25.
Woodard, vice president of marketing for Magna Securities in New York, was in town Tuesday to watch the KU's women's basketball team play an exhibition game against the McDonald's Victoria All-Stars.
The four-time All-American and all-time leading scorer in women's college basketball received an earful from her Lawrence friends once she arrived Tuesday.
"I've been getting razzed about it," said Woodard, who also plays for the WNBA's Cleveland Rockers. "Everyone started teasing me today and asking me, 'Where is it? You're here and the banner's gone. Do you have Danny's too?'"
Woodard didn't recall any of her memorabilia being taken before.
"I'm flattered," she said. "I think this is a first."
