Fort Scott Graveside services with military rites for Charles Moore Warren, 83, Girard, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at U.S. National Cemetery, Fort Scott.
Mr. Warren died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at Crawford County District Hospital, Girard.
He was born Aug. 22, 1914, in Fort Scott, the son of Harry and Marion Alphonsine Moore. He graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1935 and Fort Scott Community College in 1937. He went on to Kansas University, where he played football. He graduated from Washburn University School of Law in 1941.
He served as Bourbon County attorney for 12 years and Bourbon County district judge for 16 years. He served two terms on the Kansas Corporation Commission.
He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran.
Mr. Warren was a member of First United Methodist Church, Fort Scott, Kansas Bar Assn., Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rising Sun Lodge No. 8 A.F. & A.M., and was a 32nd degree Mason with the Fort Scott Scottish Rite Bodies. He was a founding member of the Bourbon County BASS club.
He married Ava L. Murphy on March 28, 1943. They were later divorced.
Survivors include his companion of 22 years, Eileen Sherlock, Girard; two sons, Harry, Lawrence, and David, Indianapolis; two sisters, Margaret Classen, Hoisington, and Marion Elizabeth Brown, Bartlesville, Okla.; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home in Fort Scott.
