The firms are scheduled to meet today in Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Douglas County Inc.'s first "Big for a Day" program.

Becky Price, Big Brothers/Big Sisters co-director, said the program would bring together potential adult volunteers with Lawrence children on the waiting list for a Big Brother or Big Sister.

Firms that will take part in the program are Gould Evans Associates; Glenn Livingood Penzler Architects; and Michael Treanor Architects.

Price said the event would be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the residence of a Big Brothers/Big Sisters board member.

Organizers hope to prompt long-term matches between volunteers and children from single-parent households. In the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program, mentors and children spend three to four hours a week together.
