Did classified employees of the state get a raise through the Legislature, and when will that take effect?
The state's classified and unclassified employees all received 3.5 percent salary increases. For classified employees, that means step movement of 2.5 percent on their salary schedule and a 1 percent cost of living adjustment. Classified employees who have worked at least 10 years also will get a longevity bonus of $40 for each year of service up to 25 years or no more than $1,000.
The 1 percent increase begins on June 16, which is the first payroll period that is chargeable for the fiscal year 1998 budget year, which begins July 1. The 2.5 percent increase and the longevity pay begins on the employee's anniversary date.
