What happens during a lunar eclipse?

The moon passes through the Earth's shadow, causing the moon to darken. A partial lunar eclipse will start tonight at 7:30, but it won't be until about 9 p.m. before it becomes noticeably darker. At about 10:40 p.m., the moon will reach its darkest point, complete with a reddish-orange hue.
