Services for Walter Russell, 77, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial with full military honors will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Russell died Saturday, March 8, 1997, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 6, 1919, in Marshfield, Mo., the son of Fred and Lena Warden Russell.
Mr. Russell was a truck driver for Navaho Truck Lines and A.B.F. Truck Lines for a number of years before he retired in 1981.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Russell was a member of Alford-Clarke Post No. 852, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and First Assembly of God Church, both of Lawrence.
He married Ouita Andrews Horton on March 15, 1966, in Miami, Okla. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three daughters, Cleta Henak, Tonganoxie, Sandy Coulter and Debbie Nall, both of Lawrence; a son, Larry Andrews, Tonganoxie; three brothers, Floyd E., Overland Park, Bill J., Topeka, and Charles W., Farley, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Assn. and/or the American Cancer Society. Memorials may be sent in care of the mortuary.
