Kansas State Historical Society members are conducting a campaign to increase awareness about their Kansas heritage and increase membership in the society.
The "It's Time to Re-Member" campaign began June 6-7 at the society's spring meeting in Hutchinson, and will be conducted with the assistance of more than 30 team leaders throughout the state.
The society is a not-for-profit statewide organization that supports Kansas history and heritage. Members represent families, communities, businesses and educational facilities with a broad interest in Kansas issues including archeology, education, genealogy, general history, museums, preservation and research.
Members receive a number of benefits including a subscription to the two quarterlies, "Kansas Heritage," the popular history magazine, and "Kansas History: A Journal of the Central Plains"; a 20 percent discount to the museum store in the Kansas Museum of History and museum stores at 13 of the state historic sites; and invitations to special openings and receptions. During the membership drive -- which runs from June 1 to Sept. 30 -- new members will receive a society mug.
