"Safe Sitter," a class for potential baby sitters, will be offered June 24-26 and July 8-10 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Participants may choose from either of the sessions, which are from noon to 4 p.m.
"Safe Sitter" will provide training on how to deal with young children in emergency situations. Participants will learn basic life-saving skills, safety precautions to prevent accidents and how to summon help during an emergency situation. Other skills such as feeding, toilet training and handling sibling rivalry also will be discussed.
The three-day course is open to boys and girls, ages 11 to 13. The cost of each course is $40, which includes a graduation ceremony and certification card. Class size is limited.
