I ran across some pre-purchased Putt-Putt game cards. Now that there's no longer a Putt-Putt in Lawrence, will these be honored at another location? Are there plans for another Putt-Putt in Lawrence?

"The tickets that were purchased in Lawrence are valid at almost every Putt-Putt in the United States," said Bob Harwood, who owns the local Putt-Putt miniature golf franchise rights. "Nobody should throw those tickets out. When we opened in 1984, we had people bring them in that were 20 years old."

Topeka's Putt-Putt course is at the Sports Center Inc., 6545 SW 10th, he said. Other Kansas Putt-Putt miniature golf courses are in Emporia, Hays and Salina.

Harwood, whose Putt-Putt had been located on the southwest corner of 31st and Iowa, said he continued to hold the franchise rights but was unsure whether there would be another Putt-Putt miniature golf course in Lawrence.

He plans to open Putt-Putt Batting Cages Saturday at Holcom Park. He has a recreation agreement with the city of Lawrence for the cages to be just east of the park's ball diamonds.
