— Lawrence's Troy Gris and Wellsville's Jo Burgoon have signed letters of intent with Baker University.

Gris, a transfer from Texas Wesleyan University, signed a BU soccer letter.

Burgoon, a 5-foot-7 setter, signed a volleyball letter. Burgoon was an honorable mention all-stater and was named to the all-league and all-area teams as a senior at WHS.

Other Baker signees released Tuesday:

  • Lindsay Marie Bodine, Springfield, Mo., soccer goalkeeper.
  • Julie Vosilus, Lansing, soccer stopper-midfielder.
  • Gavin Smith, Ballwin, Mo., soccer defender.
  • Mike Koehler, Kansas City, Mo., soccer forward-midfielder.
  • Joel Colletti, Lenexa, soccer defender. Colletti is a transfer from Johnson County CC.
  • Mike Palo, Lenexa, Shawnee Mission Northwest, soccer goalie.

Swartz resigns from THS

Tonganoxie -- Bart Swartz resigned as Tonganoxie High's girls basketball coach at the Tongie school board's meeting on Monday night. Swartz has coached the Chieftains the past three seasons. Last year, THS was 2-19.
