Authorities are seeking the public's help in tracking two suspects in a January kidnapping and robbery at a northwest Lawrence hotel.
Crime Stoppers officer Tom Moore said detectives were continuing to investigate the incident, during which two men tied up an assistant manager and left the Hampton Inn, 2300 W. Sixth, with an unreported amount of cash from the register. The woman was able to dial 911 using a speaker phone.
The robbery occurred on one of the coldest nights of winter, and the suspects left distinctive footprints in the snow, Moore said. The suspects' faces were covered, but they were thought to be in their 20s, both about 150 pounds, one 5-feet-9-inches tall, the other about 6-feet tall.
The taller suspect was wearing a knit cap, scarf, dark blue coat, khaki pants and dark gloves, and had a "young-sounding voice."
The other man was wearing a ski mask, dark blue jacket, dark pants and dark gloves. He also had a "young-sounding voice."
Anyone with information about the crime should call Crime Stoppers, 843-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous, and Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to Caller ID. A reward of up to $1,000 is available.
