One of the men suspected in a March 29 home invasion in Lawrence was arraigned Tuesday in Douglas County District Court.
Rashidi McClelland, 19, Lawrence, pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated battery, aggravated burglary, attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated assault, all felonies. A trial was scheduled for Oct. 1
McClelland was arrested several days after the early-morning home invasion in the 1700 block of East 17th. Four people were inside the residence at the time -- only a 16-year-old girl was awake.
Two men, one holding a .22-caliber revolver and both wearing blue bandanas over their faces, burst inside the home and knocked the girl to the ground. They held down the girl, a Lawrence High student, kicked and threatened her.
The men were scared from the home when the girl's mother came home from work.
No one else has been formally charged in the incident.
