— Services for Paul Laverne Cummings, 62, Olathe, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, DeSoto. Burial will be at DeSoto Silent City Cemetery.

Mr. Cummings died Saturday, May 31, 1997, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

He was born June 24, 1934, in Jackson County, the son of Raymond and Minnie Marshall Cummings.

Mr. Cummings attended school in Eudora. He was a veteran of the Korean War and owned Cummings Trucking, Cummings Mobile Park and Cummings Market in Baldwin. He was also a retired carpenter of Kansas City Local No. 714.

Memberships included the Masonic Lodge No. 271 and the American Legion.

His wife, Shirley Jordan Cummings, survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Steven, Gladstone, Mo., and Clayton, Wellsville; a daughter, Shirlene Yohe, Olathe; three brothers, Gene and Ronald, Tyler, Tex., and Earl, Billings, Mont.; four sisters, Connie Gregg, Clearwater, Fla., Mary Catherine Merchant, Chunchula, Ala., Ruth Ann Sunseri and Rose Saathoff, both of Lawrence; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today at Cedar Crest Memorial, 32665 Lexington Ave., DeSoto.

The family suggests memorials to Paul Cummings Memorial Fund.
