A Lawrence woman remained in critical condition Friday at Kansas University Medical Center after she was trapped underneath the wheel of a car in a campus apartment complex parking lot.
Yeon Kim, 45, the wife of a KU student, was found about 8 a.m. Thursday under the wheel of the family's four-door, 1979 Pontiac, in a parking lot at Stouffer Place Apartments, 24 Anna St. KU police and paramedics were called shortly after that to the parking lot.
Kim's torso was trapped under the car.
KU Police Sgt. Chris Keary said the woman was likely trapped for only a few moments when a family member found her and moved the car. Keary said that, according to witness reports, the car had rolled backward and stopped against another car in the lot when Kim was trapped underneath.
Lawrence-Douglas County Fire and Medical took her by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was flown by helicopter to KUMC.
