STILLWATER, OKLA. It's make or break time for Kansas University's women's basketball team.
The No. 14 Jayhawks (17-4 overall, 8-2 in the Big 12) will take on Oklahoma State (13-8, 5-6) tonight. Tipoff is 7 p.m. at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The OSU game comes in the middle of a seven-game stretch that features five road games.
And it comes in the stretch run for the Big 12 Conference title. KU is tied for first with Texas and Colorado with six league games remaining.
KU will travel to Colorado on Saturday.
But first the Jayhawks must deal with OSU. The Cowboys have beaten CU and Texas Tech. They were picked to finish seventh in the preseason media poll.
OSU is led in scoring by Renee Roberts, a 5-foot-10 forward who averages 14.2 points per game. Cheri Edwards adds 13.7 points and a team-high 5.8 rebounds per game.
KU has won the last three meetings with OSU, including two victories in Stillwater.
The Jayhawks will play without junior reserve forward Koya Scott, who suffered a sprained right ankle on Monday and will miss about a week. She averages 8.9 minutes per game.
Also on the line tonight is another milestone for KU coach Marian Washington. Washington needs one victory to reach the 450-win plateau. Her career record stands at 449-255, which ranks 13th nationally among active coaches.
KU's next home game will be next Wednesday against Missouri.
