Lawrence Police are searching for a man who damaged two washing machines while stealing coins at a Laundromat, and the woman who acted as a lookout.

Two washing machines at the Plaza East Laundry, 1910 Haskell Ave., suite J, were vandalized in the Thanksgiving Day incident. Lawrence Police Officer Tom Moore said a surveillance camera at the laundry showed the couple entering the business about 9 a.m. Nov. 27.

Damage is estimated at $3,000, and an unknown amount of coins were stolen.

The man is a white male in his early 20s, about 6-feet-2, weighing 160 to 170 pounds with brown hair and wearing light-colored baggy pants, a light shirt, ball cap and a dark waist-length coat. The woman is about 5-feet 5, about 300 pounds and was wearing jeans, a white shirt and a dark-colored jacket.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 843-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest, and callers remain anonymous. Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to Caller ID.
