Free State High fans will have their first opportunity to cheer on the Firebirds at home during tonight's preseason fall sports jamboree.
The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at Haskell Stadium, will feature scrimmages and/or player introductions for the seven fall sports -- cross country, football, girls golf, gymnastics, boys soccer, girls tennis and volleyball.
A boys soccer scrimmage will be held from 6:30 to 7 p.m., followed by a one-mile cross country run from 7 to 7:10 p.m. After the run, players will be introduced from volleyball (7:10 p.m.), tennis (7:15 p.m.), golf (7:15 p.m.), gymnastics (7:15 p.m.) and football (7:20 p.m.).
The football team then will scrimmage for two 20-minute halves (7:30 to 7:50 and 8:10 to 8:30 p.m.), with a performance by the FSHS marching band in between.
Admission prices have been rolled back to $1 for everyone to conform with Lawrence High's jamboree on Wednesday. Originally, the cost was to have been $2 for adults and $1 for students and children.
