Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A stereo and furniture valued on a police report at $1,040 were taken between Sept. 14 and 5 p.m. Saturday from the 900 block of West Third, police reported.

Police reports

  • Anthony Wayne Criner, 27, Wichita, was arrested early Sunday on felony charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of stolen property. Details of the arrest weren't available Sunday night. Criner was booked into the Douglas County Jail at 2:26 a.m. and was being held without bond.
  • Alan Paul Spang, 20, Davenport, Okla., was arrested early Sunday on charges of aggravated assault, possession of marijuana and criminal damage. Details of the arrest weren't available Sunday night. Spang was booked into the Douglas County Jail at 3 a.m. and was being held without bond.
  • Two windows on a 1992 Ford Aerostar valued on a police report at $1,200 were broken between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 1900 block of Louisiana, police reported.

Condition reports

  • Celia Miller, 71, Lawrence, was listed in fair condition Sunday night at the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., where she was taken following a horse-riding accident Sept. 10.

Fire calls

Lawrence firefighters:

  • Extinguished a brush fire at 7:40 a.m. Saturday at the north end of the Kansas River Bridge. No damage was reported.
  • Investigated a false alarm at 8:50 a.m. Saturday at the Art and Design Building at Kansas University.
  • Investigated a false alarm at 9:13 a.m. Saturday in an apartment at XX Weston Square.
  • Investigated a natural gas leak at 2:26 p.m. Saturday at 4900 Legends Drive. A gas line had been cut by tree diggers, firefighters reported. Firefighters and police stopped traffic into the area until the gas was shut off.
  • Investigated a fire at 7:04 p.m. Saturday in a kitchen at 3502 W. Ninth Court. The fire was out when firefighters arrived. No damage was reported.
  • Extinguished an outdoor trash bin fire at 10:18 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Maine.
  • Extinguished an outdoor trash bin fire at 11:56 p.m. Saturday at Sixth and Maine.
  • Extinguished a fire at 1:18 a.m. Sunday at Heinz Pet Food, 727 N. Iowa. Filters in a vacuum bin had ignited, firefighters reported. There was no damage.
  • Investigated a false alarm at 5:02 a.m. Sunday in an apartment at XX Weston Square.
