SALISBURY, N.C. Services for Hubert Ray Shulenburger, 83, Salisbury, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Mr. Shulenburger died Sunday, Sept. 22, 1996, at a Salisbury hospital.
He was born Feb. 10, 1913, in Rowan County, N.C., the son of Mary Irene Schenk Shulenburger and David Eli Shulenburger.
He attended Salem School in Rowan County.
Mr. Shulenburger was a livestock and grain farmer. He also was a building contractor before his retirement.
He served as president of a pioneer rural telephone company in Rowan County, as a board member of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service of the Farmer's Home Administration.
He was an avid gardener and fisherman.
He was a lifelong member of the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served as a member of the Church Council.
He married Allie Goodnight Shulenburger. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, David Shulenburger, Lawrence, Richard Shulenburger, Salisbury; three daughters, Mary Moretz, Hickory, N.C., Betty Grubb, Salisbury, and Anne Jones, Mt. Ulla, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Summersett Funeral Home, and at other times the family will be at the residence, 7040 Long Branch Road, Salisbury.
