Baldwin A newly restored engine will power a special event this weekend at the Midland Railway.
Railfans Weekend kicks off Saturday and will feature an expanded schedule of pleasure trips. A Missouri-Kansas-Texas locomotive will lead passenger, freight and mixed cars along the railway's restored tracks.
Also, the U.S. Postal Service will recommission Midland's former Kansas City Southern Railroad Post Office on Saturday for a one-day-only return to mail service. A postal service clerk will be aboard each excursion to offer an official commemorative collector's cancellation.
Trains are scheduled to depart at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.
