I have been living with a companion for many years, and we now are planning our estates. Can she be buried in our local VA national cemetery where I intend to be interred, given that we have been living together for many years?

Such VA burial benefits are limited to spouses, but where state law recognizes such cohabitation as a common-law marriage and documentation such as a joint bank account confirms the relationship, that would satisfy the VA's requirements.

You should contact the local VA national cemetery you mentioned and ask what the practice is in your area with regard to common-law marriages.
