A PTO-PTA Fair is set for next month to help members of school parent-teacher groups with fund-raising activities.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 7, representatives of groups that sell fund-raising ideas to schools will be on hand to visit with officers of parent-teacher groups.
"I think it will be fun," said Susan Wolfe-Shirk, co-vice president of Lawrence Schools Area Council, which is organizing the event.
The fair, which will be at Schwegler School, 2201 Ousdahl Rd., also will provide a chance for officers and committee members to exchange ideas about fund-raisers and obtain other information:
- From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Prevention Parents will meet. The group is comprised of one person from each school who handles information on drug and alcohol prevention. The group is sponsored by the school district, DCCCA and Project Freedom.
- From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., breakout sessions are planned for people who chair parent-teacher groups. The sessions will focus on parent advocacy, how to run a meeting, juvenile issues, and drug and alcohol abuse prevention.
Wolfe-Shirk said neighboring school districts are invited to participate.
For more information or to reserve a spot in the fund-raisers portion of the fair, contact Wolfe-Shirk, 749-1423, or Karen Andregg, area council president, 842-5267.
