— A rural Oskaloosa man remained missing Monday, 10 days after he was last seen leaving a residence in Lawrence.

"We're following up several leads," said Rick Jones, a Jefferson County sheriff's lieutenant investigating the disappearance of Kevin G. Newman, 24. "Information is starting to come in."

Among the tips: A caller reported seeing Newman's truck Nov. 18 on Kansas Highway 10 near Lawrence.

Jones said the caller reported that the truck was unattended. The truck is no longer there. Investigators have been checking with towing companies but have had no luck in determining whether the tip was accurate.

Authorities said Newman was last seen about 7:30 a.m. Nov. 15, when he left his girlfriend's residence in the 3000 block of West Seventh in Lawrence.

Newman, who has family in Lawrence and Oskaloosa, appeared to be untroubled when he left the residence. If he had made plans to leave the area, he apparently hadn't told anyone about them.

Jones said Newman was driving a red 1987 Ford Ranger XLT pickup. The four-wheel-drive pickup featured silver accents, large tires and rebel flags on the rear window and tailgate.

Newman is 5-feet-10 and 185 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Jones urged anyone with information about Newman to call sheriff's officers at (913) 863-2351 or Lawrence police at 841-7210.
