Police reports

  • Criminal damage to a 1992 Chevrolet Camaro valued at $1,000 on a police report was caused between 12 p.m. Oct. 27 and 12 p.m. Friday in the 1800 block of Naismith, police reported.

Fire calls

Lawrence firefighters:

  • Investigated a system malfunction at 7:04 a.m. Friday at Bailey Hall on Kansas University campus.
  • Investigated a smoke scare at 3:17 p.m. Friday at 1008 Tennessee.
  • Investigated a system malfunction at 9 p.m. Friday at 1603 W. 15th.
  • Extinguished a structure fire at 11:45 p.m. Friday at 1900 W. 31st. Firefighters located a fire in the rear of the mobile home, pulled a preconnect hose and extinguished the fire.
  • Investigated an arcing piece of electrical equipment at 11:40 p.m. Friday at 628 N. Second. Firefighters checked out a furnace unit and found wiring which had burned.
  • Responded to a malicious and mischievous false call at 7 a.m. Saturday at 1800 Naismith. Firefighters went to the third floor and found that a fire extinguisher was set off in the hall with no other signs of problems.
  • Responded to a false call at 12:01 a.m. Saturday at 1015 W. 23rd.
  • Investigated a smoke scare at 3:03 a.m. Saturday at 1603 W. 15th. Firefighters went to the fourth floor and found an extinguisher had been discharged.
  • Investigated a structure fire at 9:29 a.m. Saturday at 1700 Mass. Firefighters were informed of burnt food on a stove.
  • Investigated a smoke scare at 11:44 a.m. Saturday at 733 Lyons. Firefighters found a burnt dish of food placed in a microwave by a three-year-old.
  • Investigated a good intent call at 12:07 p.m. Saturday at Hashinger Hall on KU campus.
  • Investigated a smoke scare at 12:48 p.m. Saturday at 1815 Naismith. Firefighters went to the fifth floor of the building and found no smoke or fire.
