De Soto — The school board here has scheduled a special meeting next month to discuss how the school system will keep up with growth in the city and surrounding areas.
"We had so much new construction going on in Johnson County," said board member Curt Allenbrand. "We don't want to get behind, we want to stay ahead of the game if it's as all possible. There's lots of building in DeSoto, and they keep saying there's going to be more."
Allenbrand said the board won't discuss specific proposals at the meeting. But it will consider its options, such as expanding existing schools or building new ones.
The special meeting will be at 5 p.m. June 19 at DeSoto Elementary School, 8355 Peoria.
