OKLAHOMA CITY Services for Nancy Ruth Amis, 89, Topeka, will be held at a later date at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City. She was cremated.
Ms. Amis died Monday, April 29, 1996, at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
She was born Dec. 10, 1906, in Elk City, Okla., the daughter of Robert and Eva Winfrey Keen.
Ms. Amis graduated from a Columbia, Mo., high school in 1923. She earned a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1926 and a master's of library science from the University of Oklahoma in 1959. She taught English and library science in Oklahoma for 16 years and then was associate professor of library science and coordinator of library education at Oklahoma State University. She retired in 1972.
She was a member of the American Library Assn., National Education Assn. and National Library Science Honorary Fraternity. She was faculty adviser to Alpha Beta Alpha and president of School Library Division of Oklahoma Library Assn.
She married William Bruce Amis in 1929. They divorced in 1950.
Survivors include a son, William B. Amis Jr., Pittsburgh, a daughter, Nancy A. Owens, Lawrence; four granddaughters; and a great-grandson.
The family suggests memorials to the National Institute of Mental Health, 5600 Fishers Ln., 17C17 Rockville, Mo. 20857-8030.
