— Services for Gladys B. Hunter, 102, Tonganoxie, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Tonganoxie Christian Church. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Tonganoxie.

Mrs. Hunter died Tuesday, April 30, 1996, at Sterling House in Lawrence.

She was born Dec. 19, 1893, in Taylor County, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Luella Lomax Burks.

Mrs. Hunter, a homemaker, moved to Tonganoxie in 1922 from Iowa.

She was a member of Tonganoxie Christian Church and the Rinda Chapter No. 82, Order of the Eastern Star, where she had served as a past worthy matron.

She married Preston D. Hunter on Feb. 16, 1922, in Maryville, Mo. He died Oct. 26, 1953.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Preston E. Hunter, Athens, Ga.; a daughter, Lucy Thomas, Los Alamos, N.M.; a sister, Letha Keller, King City, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will meet with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie.

The family suggests memorials to Tonganoxie Christian Church or the Douglas County Hospice.
