A tribute to Lawrence film director/producer Harold "Herk" Harvey will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Kansas University's Oldfather Studios building, 1621 W. Ninth.
A sound stage in the studio will be dedicated in Harvey's name, according to Chuck Berg, KU professor of theater and film.
Harvey played an instrumental role at Centron Corp., a Lawrence-based business and educational film production company. The building that houses Oldfather Studios was donated to KU by Centron.
Interest in Harvey's career recently has been rekindled by the growing popularity of "Carnival of Souls," a 1961 low-budget, black-and-white horror movie filmed partially in the Lawrence area and directed by Harvey.
