William R. Docking, 45, is a bank president in Arkansas City and managing member of an oil production company in Oxford. He has a bachelor's degree in political science, master's degree in business administration and law degree from Kansas University. He was appointed to the board in 1995. The Democrat's term expires Dec. 31, 1998. His father, Robert, was elected to four terms as governor of Kansas.

Thomas E. Hammond, 42, is a Wichita lawyer specializing in labor litigation, workers' compensation and personal injury law. He has a law degree from Washburn University and a bachelor's degree in education from Kansas University. He joined the board in 1994. The Democrat's term expires Dec. 31, 1997.

Kenneth C. Havner, 53, is an attorney in private practice in Hays. He earned a bachelor's degree from Fort Hays State University and a law degree from Washburn University. The former Hays mayor was appointed a regent in 1995. The Republican's term expires Dec. 31, 1998.

Dr. John Hiebert, 56, is a Lawrence cardiologist. He earned a bachelor's degree in math from Kansas University and a medical degree from Kansas University Medical Center. He's currently the board's chairman. The Democrat was named to the board in 1993. His term expires Dec. 31, 1996.

Murray D. Lull, 49, is a bank president in Smith Center. Lull earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Wichita State University. The fourth-generation banker was appointed to the board in March. The Republican's term as a regent expires Jan. 15, 1998.

Phyllis Nolan, 56, of Louisburg is a senior manager at Hallmark Cards. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska and a master's degree in business administration from Rockhurst College. Nolan was an adjunct professor at Emporia State University. She's been a regent since 1994. The Republican's term expires Dec. 31, 1997.

Sylvia Robinson, 46, of Kansas City, Kan., is a manager and program officer with Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Kansas State University as well as a master's degree in education and a Ph.D. in education from Kansas University. She's been on the Kansas City, Kan., school board since 1983. She joined the regents in March. Her term expires Jan. 15, 2000.

Robert V. Talkington, 66, is an Iola lawyer. He holds a bachelor's degree in education and a law degree from Kansas University. He's a former president of the Kansas Senate. He was appointed to the board in 1995. The Republican's term expires Dec. 31, 1998.

Sidney T. Warner, 62, of Cimarron is involved in ranching, real estate and insurance businesses. He graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in economics. Warner is vice chairman of the board. He became a regent in 1992 and was reappointed in 1995. The Democrat's current term expires Dec. 31, 1996.
