— Services for Alden Robert Brey, 77, Oskaloosa, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Oskaloosa.

Mr. Brey died Saturday, June 15, 1996, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 25, 1918, in Oskaloosa, the son of Robert and Ethel F. Johnston Brey. He was a lifelong resident of the Oskaloosa area. He was a dairyman and farmer in Oskaloosa for many years, retiring from farming in 1968. After retiring, he worked as a forester for the Forestry Department of Kansas State University, working at Lake Perry and the Clinton Reservoir. He retired in 1987 after 19 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 35th Infantry Division and seeing action in the Battle of the Bulge.

He married Kathryn Jean May in June of 1949 in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Linda K. Cowell, Oskaloosa; two sons, Larry A., Woodbury, Minn. and Michael A., Oskaloosa; two sisters, Thelma Brey and Norma Barnard, both of Oskaloosa; a brother, Calvin, Leavenworth; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Barnett Funeral Home.
