The Lawrence Chamber of commerce is sponsoring small-business week to recognize the importance of small businesses.
The chamber and the Kansas University Small Business Development Center are holding two seminars this week designed for small-business owners and those considering a small-business venture.
- "How to Start Your Own Small Business" will be today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Chamber office, 734 Vt. Please call 843-8844 for reservations.
- The Guerrilla Marketing seminar will provide business owners ideas for marketing products or services on a limited budget. More than 80 people have already signed up for the seminar, scheduled for 7:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Lawrence Senior Center, 745 Vt. Mike O'Donnell, director of the KU SBDC, will lead the seminar.
Also, the chamber's Sound Advice Task Force is matching experienced business owners with small-business or new business owners who have requested help in specific areas, such as finance, marketing or technology. Anyone interested in participating should call Betty Markley at 865-4429.
