Services for Argus A. "Doc" Pearson, 82, Lawrence, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Pearson died Saturday, June 1, 1996, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home.
He was born July, 5, 1913, in Lamar, Ark., the son of John Louis Pearson and Maude Pearl Horton. He had lived in Lawrence since 1947. He moved to the Garnett area at age 11 and later moved to Lawrence. In 1946, he moved to Las Cruces, N.M. He returned to Lawrence in 1947 and was a driver for the Lawrence Paper Co. until he retired in 1976. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the NCHA Campers Group, both of Lawrence.
He married Grace Elizabeth Perkins on Sept. 26, 1932, in Garnett. She survives in Lawrence.
Other survivors include a son, Jerry, Rochester, N.Y.; two sisters, Arvella Corbin and Ozella Burns, both of Lawrence; six granddaughters; and three great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by two sons; Larry and Donald; and a daughter, Judith Ann LaFollette.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials to the Colonial Manor nursing home in care of the funeral home.
