Americans for Limited Terms has endorsed Republican Sam Brownback and Democrat Joan Finney for their parties' nominations to the U.S. Senate seat formerly held by Bob Dole.

In a public statement, the Illinois-based organization promoting term limits for members of Congress said Brownback and Finney had signed its ``U.S. Term Limits Pledge,'' while their primary election rivals, Sheila Frahm and Jill Docking, did not sign the pledge.

By signing, Brownback and Finney committed themselves to supporting the organization's proposed constitutional amendment that would limit U.S. House members to serving no more than six years and senators to no more than 12 years.

The group bills itself as the nation's largest term limits advocacy organization.
