The Elizabeth B. Ballard Community Center, 708 Elm, will be taking applications through Aug. 9 for the annual school kit program.
The program is a countywide service offering school supply kits to the children of families with limited finances. The center annually distributes hundreds of school kits to children enrolling in kindergarten through sixth grade in Lawrence Unified School District 497, and Douglas County Schools.
Parents enrolling children may complete an application for the school kit program at the center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Eligibility is based upon family size and income. Proof of household income and social security number are required of all applicants. This service is supported by the United Way of Douglas county and community donations.
