McLouth -- Services for Nellie A. Scott, 97, McLouth, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, McLouth with the Rev. Scott Berry officiating. Burial will be at McLouth Cemetery.

Mrs. Scott died Friday, Jan. 26, 1996, at Hickory Point Care Center in Oskaloosa.

She was born Oct. 17, 1898, in Greensburg, Ky., the daughter of John S. and Mary S. Turner Hendrickson.

Mrs. Scott had lived in McLouth since 1903. She attended Eagle School and McLouth schools.

Mrs. Scott worked for many years as McLouth City Clerk and as McLouth correspondent for the Oskaloosa Independent and the Tonganoxie Mirror newspapers.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of McLouth since 1918 and had served as church clerk for 17 years. She was a charter member and past president of the Williams-Kesinger American Legion Auxiliary of McLouth. She was a past local and district president of the Women's Christian Temperance Union in McLouth for more than 30 years.

She married Arthur J. Scott on Jan. 25, 1916, in Lawrence. He died Aug. 6, 1962.

Survivors include a son, Eugene Scott, Rogers, Ark.; a daughter, Joyce Dearing, McLouth; two stepdaughters, Irene Sherry, Gonzales, Tex., and Lila Lamphear, McLouth; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Frieda Tiemann and Norma L. Boyer.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa.

The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church of McLouth. They may be sent in care of the funeral home.
