School board members will discuss a proposal for a pilot preschool program that would be financed with funds obtained by the local business-education partnership board.
Plans call for the preschool to serve 3- and 4-year-olds who are at risk. It also will involve, when possible, the children's parents.
The free school would open in August on an all-day, year-round basis in a local elementary school. It would serve about 20 children in its first year.
The Lawrence school-business partnership board has agreed to raise the money necessary to fund at least the first year of the program.
