Law enforcement report

Police reports

  • A 33-year-old man told police he was threatened with an aluminum bat about 10 p.m. Tuesday during an incident at his home in the 1900 block of West 31st. The man told police that his former girlfriend and two men came to his home to collect money that the woman alleges is owed to her. An argument broke out when the victim said he did not have the money to repay the woman. During the argument, one of the men picked up a bat and threatened the victim, according to the report. The three suspects left the residence after the victim picked up the telephone to call the police.

Condition reports

  • Louellen King, Oklahoma City, was listed in fair condition Monday at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., with injuries she suffered Friday in a one-vehicle accident in the 300 block of Michigan.

District court

Criminal charges filed

  • Attempted aggravated robbery charges were filed Wednesday against two men in connection with an incident Monday involving a 39-year-old Lawrence man. Patrick D. Roberts, 736 Maine, and Jeffrey A. Campbell, 18, 670 E. 1250 Rd., both are to appear back in court Monday for a preliminary hearing. The victim told police that he was approached by the suspects about 4 a.m. Monday as he was walking near 10th and Kentucky. He said one of the suspects asked if he had any money, and then the victim was knocked to the ground.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A 1986 Cutlass Sierra valued on a police report at $1,600 was taken from the 300 block of Illinois between 11:45 p.m. Tuesday and 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, Lawrence police reported.

Fire calls

Lawrence firefighters:

  • Investigated a false alarm at 3:37 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment at 2105 Harvard.
  • Extinguished a trash fire at 6:28 p.m. Wednesday at Ninth and Connecticut. There was no damage, firefighters reported.

  • Medical emergency, 10:51 a.m. Wednesday, 3000 block of West Sixth.
  • Public accident, 11:07 a.m. Wednesday, 1200 block of Orchard Lane, Baldwin.
  • Medical emergency, 2:22 p.m. Wednesday, 700 block of Louisiana.
  • Automobile accident, 2:46 p.m. Wednesday, U.S. Highway 40 and County Road 550 E. The patient was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released.
  • Home accident, 6:08 p.m. Wednesday, 1900 block of West 31st.
