Eudora New water system connections will cost more in Eudora.
The city council approved an ordinance Monday night to raise the meter installation charge from $450 to about $1,000. Sewer connection fees will also increase.
"We need to upgrade the water system because of the jump in expenses to the city," Mayor James Hoover said. "The ordinance will generate income for future expansions and upgrades."
The council scheduled a public meeting on a tax abatement application from B & F Partnership for March 25.
B & F plans to build a 20,000 square-foot office and warehouse facility at the Intech Business Park east of Eudora.
Bill Martin of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce said the facility would be leased to Pur-O-Zone Inc., a janitorial supply company based in Lawrence.
Five to seven jobs would be created in the next four years with the addition of the new facility, Martin said.
