EIGHT TEENS ALSO INVOLVED IN SHOOTING

Nathan Earwood was one of nine teen-agers implicated in the Sept. 24 shooting of Stephanie Perez, 14.

The other eight teen-agers' court cases proceeded as follows:

  • Kenneth Heth, 16, was granted probation Oct. 26 after stipulating -- the juvenile equivalent of pleading guilty -- to a count of conspiring to commit aggravated battery.
  • Ian Mastel, 17, was granted probation Nov. 2. Mastel pleaded no contest Oct. 19 to counts of attempted aggravated battery and conspiring to commit aggravated battery.
  • Benjamin Mastel, 15, stipulated to attempted aggravated battery, conspiracy to commit aggravated battery and unlawful possession of a firearm. On Nov. 16, he was ordered into custody at the Youth Center at Topeka.
  • Sean Pedrow, 18, stipulated Jan. 11 to attempted aggravated battery and conspiracy to commit aggravated battery. He was granted probation Thursday.
  • Toby Surber, 17, pleaded guilty Oct. 30 in adult court to counts of attempted aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. He was granted probation to be supervised by community corrections. As part of his probation, he was ordered to serve six months at a boot camp.
  • Benjamin Evans, 18, stipulated Nov. 30 to conspiring to commit aggravated battery. He was granted probation.
  • Nicholas Griffin, 17, stipulated to conspiring to commit aggravated battery Oct. 12 and was granted probation Oct. 26.
  • Lawrence McCall, 16, was tried Jan. 4 and found guilty of attempted aggravated battery and conspiracy to commit aggravated battery. After the trial, his case was transferred to Shawnee County, where McCall lives, for sentencing.
