If you're in the market for a football autographed by Emmitt Smith or a supermodel-signed Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, you're in luck.
Those items and more will be on the auction block today as a benefit for the Wee Folks Scholarship Fund, the fund-raising recipient of this year's St. Patrick's Day parade.
The auction begins at 6:30 p.m. at The Granada, 1020 Mass. It's one of the main fund-raising events leading up to the March 17 parade.
"We have a different benefactor every year, and we intend to give the money to local organizations that benefit kids," said Chris Mulvenon, chairman of the parade organization.
The Wee Folks Scholarship Fund was established through the Lawrence parks and recreation department. Funds raised for the program will provide scholarships for youths who participate in parks and recreation programs.
This year's auction will feature at least 70 items of sports and celebrity memorabilia, Mulvenon said.
"We also have some artwork and custom jewelry items that have been donated by local artists," Mulvenon said.
Events will begin at 3 p.m. with a big-screen television viewing of the Kansas University-Iowa State men's basketball game. Items for auction can be viewed at that time.
